Dear Students,

Ok we are now over the mid part of the year! The past 3 weeks have had its ups and downs for everyone.
I need to stress to all of you that having a semi good mid review table does not mean that you can cost the rest of the way to the end of year review.
You must all keep the pace and for most of you, up the pace as the remainder of the year heads to a conclusion.
I presume the week after the mid-reviews were used effectively and that you all submitted your essays for History and Theory.
The Open jury was a very good event and I think that for the most part the unit represented itself well. It would have been nice if the entire unit were there as well. Those that did not attend, it has been noted!
The technical week, well I think some of you decided that you wanted to put yourselves in a very bad position with Alan Chandler and not show up. Success! You have achieved it!! Those that decided to give the week a miss you should speak to Alan about making up what ever went on. You also missed an opportunity to make strides in your own work. It was evident on Friday with the crit, those that took the week seriously have put them selves in a good position to move into more developed proposals. Oh and the comment or shall I call it an excuse “we have not started designing yet!” just won’t cut it! Those that did not take the week seriously must start to do so!!!!
Just to bring things more into focus, there are 12 weeks until the review tables begin. This includes the 2 week Easter holiday. So really you have 10 weeks of term time. In that time you must all have finely tuned propositions for the Multi Family Dwelling project. Did I say for a shopping centre? Or a park? Or a restaurant? No!!! For a Multi Family Dwelling, you have the brief, and have had it since November! So get to it!!!
The plan for next week is this;
Tuesday we will be having individual tutorials with all of you. We will see these tutorials as a way to clear the air for the rest of the year. We hope to discus the mid reviews, if you have any questions, and to give you feedback from us on your progress so far this year.
There are a few things that we will be expecting to see from all of you next Tuesday as well. We must see of your site, 1 plan, 2 cross sections, 2 elevations, and an axonometric. These need to be drawn with a sufficient level of detail and have to be at a scale of 1:100! They must be printed!!!!!!!!!!! Or drawn by hand!!!!!!!!! We will not look at screens!!!!!!!!! There must be paper with the drawings on them.
Friday there is another session arranged with Michael Hensel. I expect to see some very serious progress and intelligence from all of you next week. In order to have more fruitful exchanges with Michael then we have had in the past.
Tutorial times for Tuesday March 6th:
Please bring your copy of the review sheet from the mid year review!
If you did not receive one that means you have not been given it by me. So I probably have it.
Also, please be on time and please let us know you are there and waiting to be seen. This will push the pace of the day and get us all back to getting on with work.
3rd years will be seen early in the day.
